One Lutheran's Thoughts

Live and grow, change, reform...well, this blog used to be my 'primary' space, but not any more. This is now the online 'home' of my poetic ramblings and musings. Sometimes there is a faith/theological hue, while others not so much. Check out the pictures. Remember - literacy is visual too!

Playing with fire

Sometimes I think we play with fire because it intrigues us.
The colors, the hues, the flicker.
What is at the heart of this small but mighty flame?

Sometimes I think we play with fire because it offers comfort.
It provides heat in the cold night, and light in the darkest moments.
How does something so small provide these basic living elements?

Sometimes I think we play with fire because we know of the danger.
We want to play close to the fear, play close to the potential disaster.
Why are we drawn to that which can mame and destroy our very lives?

The colors, the hues, the flicker.
The heat, the light.
The fear, the potential disaster.

This is life, living in the gray.
No one thing can be all good and safe.
No one thing can be all bad and dangerous.
Living life in the gray is just that...living.
